With the 23rd annual Cobourg Civic Awards celebration taking place Tuesday, April 21 – during National Volunteer Week – the Civic Awards Committee announces that 2022 recipient Trudy Stacey will emcee the event.
A former professional hockey player in Salzburg and a respected community leader and collaborator, Stacey captained the women's hockey team at Qunnipiac University and completed at the NCAA Division I level. Her Civic Award recognized her outstanding leadership and contribution to Cobourg's sports and recreational community, which she continues with her support to local athletes, teams and organizations as owner of Trudy's Source for Sports.
“I am truly honoured and excited to be part of an evening that recognizes the incredible local community members who give so much of their time, energy and heart to making Cobourg such a special place,” Stacey said in the announcement.
Nominations are still open until Feb. 27, with awards criteria and forms available at www.cobourg.ca/CivicAwards
There are two levels of awards – Major Awards for those who have volunteered five years or more and have diverse volunteerism experience and Distinguished Awards for those who have volunteered for at least one year in the community.
The Civic Awards would note be possible without the generous support of on-going sponsors, including Northumberland 89.7 FM, Lynn Hardy, the Rotary Club of Cobourg, Lakefront Utilities Services Inc., Metroland Media, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133, the Lions Club of Cobourg and Trudy's Source for Sports.
