The Town of Cobourg and the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce announce that nominations are now open for the 23rd Business Achievement Awards.

These awards have recognized hundreds of outstanding businesses and individuals from the Town of Cobourg, and the Townships of Hamilton and Alnwick-Haldimand.

Business Achievement Awards Committee co-chair and chamber of commerce board chair Tanya Colford said in the announcement that – in response to feedback received over the past few years – the award categories have been refined to better reflect the nominated businesses and to more clearly define each award's criteria. The publicly nominated award categories will now alternate every other year to allow for more opportunities across various sectors.

“By moving to a two-year awards cycle, we have been able to divide some of the broader categories into more specific awards, ensuring that every nominee competes on a truly level playing field,” Colford said.

The refreshed and revised categories should make it easier than ever to celebrate the incredible range of local businesses, and nominations can now be made in the following new categories in recognition of innovation, resilience, service excellence and contributions to the local economy and community life:

  • Entrepreneurship Award

  • IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility) Award

  • Farming and Agribusiness Award

  • Health and Wellness Award

  • Not-For-Profit Community Service Award

  • Outstanding Customer Experience Award

  • Professional Services Award

  • Small Retail Trade Award (for businesses with nine or fewer employees)

  • Tourism Operator Award

The award is open to businesses located in the chamber's three member municipalities that have been operating for a minimum of two years. Businesses cannot nominate themselves.

If you know a business doing outstanding work – whether a long-standing local favourite of yours or a rising star – be sure to put it forward for consideration by making a nomination by Feb. 19. Nomination forms can be found at https://nccofc.ca

Then you are invited to celebrate the results March 27 at the awards ceremony at the Best Western PLUS Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre. Tickets are $100 plus HST apiece, available at https://ccofc.ca, and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
