Northumberland County is advising residents that poor weather conditions may result in temporary service disruptions. County snowplows are currently deployed and working to clear roads, motorists are urged to slow down, exercise caution, and give plows ample space to operate safely.

The County’s Community Recycling Centres will be closing at noon today and will reopen on Friday, January 16.

Northumberland County’s Provincial Offences Offices in Cobourg will be closed today. Communications will be impacted until the office reopens on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Some residents may experience a possible disruption in waste and recycling collection today due to poor road conditions.

If your scheduled collection does not occur by 7 p.m. this evening, please remove your waste and recyclables from the curbside and place them out again on your next regularly scheduled collection day. If a delay occurs, curbside waste collection limits will be temporarily increased to four waste bags with bag tags per household on the next scheduled collection day, in areas affected by the delay only.

Residents with questions regarding the removal of waste can email wastedept@northumberland.ca or call the County’s Waste Hotline at 1-866-293-8379.

For questions regarding recycling collection, please contact Miller Waste by email at area8@millerwaste.ca or by phone at 1-888-852-4723.

Due to weather conditions, some EarlyON programming has been postponed. For updates and list of impacted programs, please visit EarlyON’s Facebook page
