Cobourg

The Cobourg Police Service is a long-time supporter of the services offered by Rebound Child and Youth Services, interim Executive Director Pinder DaSilva said at this week's meeting of the Cobourg Police Services Board.

And that includes this year's Kilometres4Kids fundraiser.

“I know the chief already has his team in the race, and I know we have received some sponsorship also from CPS,” DaSilva said.

“All the funds will go directly back to the programs we facilitate.”

These include free mental-health counselling, youth justice services, youth homelessness prevention, and the upcoming Youth Wellness Hub Northumberland, which should open this fall in Port Hope.

Over the past year, more than 1,200 individuals have accessed these services, including more than 600 with mental health and counselling and more than 95 participating in youth justice programming. Of these, more then 35% are from Cobourg.

The Oct. 18 event starts at 9 a.m. at Victoria Hall. Families and individuals of all ages are invited to walk, run or bike one- or five-km. courses, ending up in Victoria Park for food and kids' activities.
