Cobourg Police are investigating the cause of a fire Sunday night. At approximately 6:40 p.m., police responded to the area of Bay Street and Green Street for a report of a fence on fire.

A bystander was able to extinguish most of the fire with an extinguisher, and the Cobourg Fire Department attended to put out hot spots and ensure the area was safe.

There were no injuries reported. Damage was sustained to the fence and hedge. The cause of the fire is unknown. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
