Northumberland OPP are investigating a crash, which closed a portion of Highway 401 early this morning.  At approximately 2:00 a.m., police responded to a collision involving a tractor trailer and two passenger vehicles between Morrish Church Road and East Townline Road. Emergency Medical Services and local fire crews also attended the scene.

One driver of a passenger vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One of the vehicles was destroyed by fire, but all occupants had safely exited beforehand.

As a result of the incident, Highway 401 westbound was temporarily closed from County Road 28 while fire personnel extinguished the blaze. The roadway was partially reopened as cleanup crews cleared debris, and all lanes were fully reopened at around 3:45 a.m.
