Just before 2 AM Wednesday, OPP officers responded to a request for assistance in stopping two vehicles believed to be stolen and travelling eastbound on Highway 401 near Bowmanville.

One vehicle was stopped by OPP in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, and the driver was taken into custody. The second vehicle continued eastbound and was later stopped in Quinte West.

York Regional Police took custody of the two suspects.
