Hospital Foundation brings back Catch the Ace

Tickets are now on sale for another edition of the Catch the Ace lottery in support of Northumberland Hills Hospital.
The NHH Foundation says this fundraiser is bigger and better than ever – for starters, the progressive jackpot has launched with a minimum $10,000 prize. It will grow with each passing week until some lucky ticket holder catches the ace of spades.
Tickets went on sale Wednesday, and the first weekly draw will take place Wednesday, Sept. 3.
For each ticket sold, 50% of that sale goes to the foundation, 20% to the weekly prize and 30% to the progressive jackpot. As things progress, week by week, the progressive jackpot grows until it is won.
At the time a ticket is purchased, the ticket holder selects one envelope in hopes that it contains the ace of spades. If that ticket is drawn, that envelope will be opened – if it is the ace of spades, the ticket holder gets the weekly prize as well as the progressive jackpot. If the envelope contains any other card, the weekly prize is awarded but the progressive jackpot continues to grow, and to wait for another week and another round of tickets to draw from.
Foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham said they are excited to bring Catch the Ace back.
“We really saw interest in this grow throughout the program last year and are hopeful, with the new guaranteed progressive jackpot of $10,000, we will raise even more funds for NHH,” Cunningham said.
“This is a fun way for the community to not only have a chance to win something for themselves, but also to help place medical equipment into the hands of our medical team.”
Tickets will go on sale at 3 p.m. each Wednesday, and will be sold until 1 p.m. the following Wednesday. Weekly draws will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Sept. 3, with tickets for the following week going on sale at 3 p.m. - until the ace of spades is caught.
Tickets are $10 each, three for $20 or 10 for $50, sold both online at www.nhhcatchtheace.ca, at the Foundation office in the hospital, and in person at locations and events throughout the community.
