The Port Hope Racquet Club is expanding to a fourth tennis court and a dome to allow for year-round use.

The province is investing $682,000 which will include renovating existing courts.

“Receiving the Ontario CSRIF Grant so that we can repair and upgrade the tennis facilities in Port Hope will open limitless possibilities and opportunities within our community. We know that movement is key to both physical and mental fitness at any age, and tennis is a sport for life. Having access to a year-round, quality facility will truly be a game changer for Northumberland County,” said Gillian Smith-Clark, President of the Port Hope Racquet Club.

The Club received a pledged funding commitment of $140,000 through their “Raise the Dome” campaign. The fourth court will be constructed to the west of the current three courts in the current parking lot. Construction is anticipated in stages beginning this fall and concluding with raising the dome next fall.

“Investing in the Port Hope Racquet Club means expanding access to recreation and creating more opportunities for people to stay active throughout the year, stated Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini.
