Community Care Northumberland is delighted to announce a fresh and joyful fundraiser on June 4, when the Abzolutely Choir Northumberland performs at Cobourg's Trinity United Church in support of their good work.
This non-auditioned mixed-genre women's ensemble brings a joie de vivre to their work, and the 7 p.m. concert will support Community Care's Meals On Wheels program.
AbZolutely Choir Northumberland is directed by award-winning singer, songwriter, arranger and educator Abby Zotz, who is thrilled to be joining forces with Community Care.
For this performance, Zotz said, “we're featuring guest dancers, soundscapes and even a little vocal improvisation.”
With arrangements featuring beloved hits by Gordon Lightfood and Totom, indie artists like the Lumineers and The Strumbellas, and more than one song that will bring out your pride as a Canadian, the choir aims to “lift hearts and spirits into a celebration of the things that matter most in these challenging times – love compassion and human connection,” she stated.
“And we dare you not to sing along!”
And, of course, the proceeds will help Community Care fulfill their mission to connect communities to the support, service and care they need through wellness, in-home and hospice services. These programs could not succeed without the support of the many volunteers, donors and funders who believe in this work.
'All of us at Community Care Northumberland want to thank the talented AbZolutely Choir Northumberland for choosing the Meals On Wheels program to benefit from their concert this year,” Manager of Nutrition Services Sheri Birney said in the announcement.
“We rely on the generosity of individuals, corporate partners and community groups. The Meals On Wheels program provides affordable and convenient meal options to support the nutritional needs of our clientele.”
Doors open at 6:30 June 4 at Trinity (284 Division St., Cobourg), and tickets are $20 at the door or $15 in advance from a choir member, with $5 tickets for children aged 12 and under.
