One person sent to hospital following 401 crash

Northumberland OPP say they are investigating a serious crash on Highway 401 Monday.

Police report a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes near Newtonville and Port Hope sent one person to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Newtonville Road and Service Centre Road were closed for several hours while the investigation was being conducted.

Authorities are appealing for witnesses or dashcam video to come forward.
