Police warn of suspicious paving company

Port Hope Police are warning of a potential scam involving driveway paving.

It's been reported that a suspicious paving company is canvassing the area, claiming to homeowners that they are working on a job nearby and can pave their driveway for a discount.

Authorities say the homeowners are given a quote, which seems too good to be true, with promises of completing the job within a few days. After the work is agreed to, the owner requests a contract before work begins, but the company starts paving without providing or signing an agreement.

This practice has gone on in other municipalities. Police remind residents to be cautious and conduct research before agreeing to a contractor’s quote.
