Northumberland County

Reducing your home energy costs and saving money are the focus of a virtual April 8 HERO session.

The acronym stands for Home Efficiency Retrofit Orientation. The session offers a chance to dive into the future of home efficiency with a presentation brought to you by Northumberland County, with building-science experts from Humber College to offer the ultimate guide to energy-efficient home upgrades.

The announcement describes it ads “an invitation to reimagine your home by cutting back on energy costs and lowering your environmental footprint, all while enhancing your comfort. Harness the knowledge of experts committed to reducing emissions and improving home affordability – insights that translate into concrete money-saving actions.”

As well, one lucky participant will win a YET cooler.

“Improving energy efficiency is vital for both reducing emissions and lowering utility costs,” Northumberland County Environmental Officer Korey McKay said in the announcement.

“By investing in energy-efficient upgrades, homeowners can contribute to climate action while also benefiting from long-term financial savings.”

The session is a collaboration among Humber College, Enbridge Gas and GreenUP that will be on line April 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. - you can register at Northumberland.ca/HERO

The session is offered as part of the county's Climate Action Strategy, which includes such initiatives as the recently approved Corporate Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Plan and the on-going Adaptation and Resiliency Plan. Enhancing home-energy efficiency plays a key role in reducing emissions and building a more sustainable future.
