Port Hope

The Municipality of Port Hope announces that its signature events, the Candlelight Festival and Arts Festival, have come up winners again in the Top 100 list issued by Festivals and Events Ontario.

It's the third year this event has made the list, whose criteria include community impact, uniqueness, economic contributions and overall popularity.

“Earning a place on the Top 100 list highlights these festivals as outstanding examples of excellence in the industry,” the announcement said.

“Our recognition on this list is a true reflection of the dedication and creativity within our community,” Mayor Olena Hankivsky added.

This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and support of our incredible municipal staff, community partners and volunteers, whose efforts drive the development, promotion and success of these events.”

Submissions from FEO members were received for consideration in the fall of 2024, with judging done by an independent panel who evaluated a diverse range of festivals and events from across Ontario – from local community celebrations to internationally renowned experiences.

Port Hope will welcome back its Arts Festival on Saturday, Aug. 9, with the Candlelight Festival kicking off with the beloved Candlelight Walk on Friday, Nov. 28.
