Two DUI’s in Cobourg over the weekend

Cobourg Police are reminding the public to use the free ride share program through the Northumberland YMCA this holiday season to arrive safely, after reporting two impaired driving incidents this weekend.

Late Saturday night police stopped a vehicle on University Avenue West, following an alleged disturbance at a restaurant.

A road-side test apparently revealed some level of intoxication. That driver was issued a three-day driving suspension.

On Sunday evening, police responded to a single-vehicle collision on D’Arcy Street after a vehicle was observed travelling on the wrong side of the road and striking the central island of a roundabout.

Police claim that the driver's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. Police caution for people to arrange alternate transportation if partying during Christmas.
