Northumberland County council will be led in its final year (before the next election) by Trent Hills Mayor Bob Crate as Warden.

Crate was the third nominee put forward, nominated by Alnwick-Haldimand Township Mayor John Logel after Cobourg Mayor Lucas Cleveland nominated two candidates who declined the honour due to obligations and responsibilities in their home communities – Port Hope Mayor Olena Hankivsky and Cramahe Township Mayor Mandy Martin.

Martin noted that she had succeeded Crate in the office of Warden previously, and praised his leadership, collaborative skills and record of achievement.

Crate returned the compliment when he nominated Martin as Deputy Warden. With her agreement to take the position, she was acclaimed to the post.
