The Town of Cobourg reminds residents that nominations for their 23rd annual Civic Awards are open until Friday, Feb. 27, 2026.

Nomination forms and criteria for the awards – given to recognize local residents who have helped benefit and promote the community through outstanding volunteer efforts, achievement and community involvement – can be found at www.cobourg.ca/CivicAwards

There are two levels of award. Major Awards are for those who have volunteered for five years or more and have diverse volunteerism experience, while Distinguished Awards are for those who have volunteered for a minimum of a year in the community. Award winners will be honoured April 21 (during National Volunteer Week) at 7 p.m. in the Victoria Hall Concert Hall.

To provide more time for nominations to be prepared and submitted, Mayor Lucas Cleveland noted in the announcement, the nomination deadline has been extended.

“Our volunteers give everything and expect nothing in return. Honouring them is a privilege. That is just one of the reasons that the Town of Cobourg takes pride in this program every year,” Cleveland said.

“Please consider nominating a worthy volunteer.”

This program would not be possible without its sponsors, This year, the committee is pleased to welcome new sponsor Trudy's Source for Sports, joining a list of ongoing sponsors that includes Northumberland 89.7 FM, Lynn Hardy, the Rotary Club of Cobourg, Lakefront Utilities Services Inc., Metroland Media, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 133 and the Lions Club of Cobourg. If you are interested in becoming a Civic Awards sponsor, please contact the Town of Cobourg.
