It seems no further details will be released on the sudden departure of Jennifer Moore from her role as Northumberland County's Chief Administrative Officer this week.

The news came at 4:33 p.m. Monday, the day on which Moore had been present at a special county council meeting called for the purpose of working on a 2026 budget that meets a 5% target. The meeting went into closed session at about 9:15 a.m. until just after noon, when a motion was passed to defer budget discussions to a future meeting.

A 1 p.m. Public Works Committee meeting for that day was cancelled, and the 4:33 p.m. announcement of Moore's departure was made by Warden Brian Ostrander. The statement said that no interim CAO has been appointed.

At Wednesday's Social Services Committee meeting, Moore's name remained on a list of staffers required for a closed-session meeting. Asked if he could say anything further on Moore's departure, Ostrander said he could not make further comment, nor could anyone else.

“There won't be anything further forthcoming, to the best of my knowledge,” the warden stated.
