Cobourg man charged with DUI

A Cobourg man is facing impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle in what Northumberland County OPP describe as a near collision Friday night.

OPP allege officers observed a white sedan travelling north on Division Street at a high rate of speed at approximately 9 P.M.

Authorities say that’s when the sedan nearly hit a police cruiser turning southbound. Officers located the car in the northside ditch at Dale Road and Division Street North. .

Police claim the 24-year-old driver failed a roadside alcohol screening test. He was arrested and released and will appear in court in February.
