My name is Lindsay Grimley and I’m honoured to be running in this year’s municipal election. I am a married mother of three children and a local business owner. My husband and I first established our business in 2017, with our first barbershop, located in Courtice. We opened our second barbershop here in Cobourg in 2021, and our third barbershop in 2024. All operate under the name, The Kingsmen.
I feel so much privilege to live in Cobourg. We have so much beauty and charm in our small town, it can instantly captivate people with their first entrance to our downtown.
My priorities in this election are safer streets, affordability (prudent and transparent spending of tax dollars) and more inclusivity for children and families of those with special needs. My eldest son has autism so I recognize the need for supportive programs in our community.
Safe streets isn’t just AN issue…it is THEE issue, for so many. Without the provision of safety in our parks, beaches and downtown area, we fail eveyone. With safe streets, we ensure residents can live without fear, and businesses can thrive. When we have a bustling town, shops & restaurants remain open, jobs are created, the economy benefits, unemployment goes down and people are in a better position to care for their families.
We need a better disbursement of social programs; we can not ignore the issues on our streets. This is not just a Cobourg problem and needs to be tackled as such. Our resources are stretched and people are frustrated. We need assistance from our neighbouring municipalities and a council who will support our residents.
My promise is to listen, to work for the community and to always make the decisions that best serve the people of Cobourg.
