My name is Courtney Goodmurphy. I have lived in Brighton for almost 16 years.  am proud to call this wonderful town my home. I am a wife, a Mom, a "fur baby" Mom and a daughter. I have a Bachelors Degree in Criminology & Justice Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Addictions and Mental Health Counselling.

I have volunteered with Brighton Public school, coached both soccer and baseball, and also worked in the community for many years. I have met so many kind and amazing people here.

I have been passionate about politics since I was in high school. Civics class actually interested me unlike most of my classmates. I have followed politics since then and was so excited I turned 18 and a few months later was able to exercise my right and vote in my first election. When it came time to choose my path in University I was leaning on two choices; Criminology or Political Science. On the guidance of my teachers and counsellors I decided to go to school for Criminology since my career path would probably have more options, but I always kept an eye and ear on the political landscape.

Now I find myself with the wonderful opportunity to follow my passion and enter the political landscape. Brighton is becoming a rapidly growing community. With that I think that not only can we preserve the warm and welcoming feeling and friendliness of our wonderful small town but also grow in a way that is supportive of all our community members.

I am an advocate for affordable housing, having a place to call your own should be something all working people and their families should be able to achieve. I would love to see more spaces in the community that the new families moving into Brighton can enjoy. More parks, parkettes, and green spaces. I am a huge supporter of the amazing small businesses that make our community so welcoming. I want to see these businesses, thrive and expand. As a member of council, I would like to be available for citizens to reach out when they have questions and concerns. Brighton has such an amazing and diverse community. Being a part of that growth and development would be such a privilege.
