Downtown Cobourg had a large gathering of dignitaries and onlookers this morning, for a series of Grand Openings.
MP Philip Lawrence, Paige Wiggans (on behalf of MPP David Picinni), Cobourg Mayor John Henderson, DBIA Chair Erica Cotton, and Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce Chair Denise Lib oiron were the guest speakers to welcome three of the lastest businesses to celebrate a Grand Opening in downtown Cobourg.
The group met at 11 am at The Kingsmen – Barbers On King. There the DBIA's co-ordinator Allyson McLean introduced the guest speakers who each presented owners Steve and Lindsay Grimley with a certificate to commemorate the event, and to offer their congratulations.
They then moved west through the downtown core onto Mercury Chocolates and Gelateria on Albert Street, where they welcomed Darren Johns back to Cobourg's downtown after spending the previous 10 years in Port Hope.
The group wrapped up their downtown swing at Zel Beauty, where Melody Fazeli was welcomed for bringing her beauty salon into the 8 Blocks of Awesome, in what was previously Philip Lawrence's old campaign headquarters for the last Federal Election.
Also in attendance this morning for the festivities were Deputy Mayor Suzanne Seguin, Councillors Adam Bureau and Emily Chorley, as well as DBIA board members, Town staff, and members of the general public.
