BECN Youth Entrepreneur Showcase Wednesday at Staples
The Business and Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland is holding its annual Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase tomorrow at Staples in Cobourg from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring young entrepreneurs from the Summer Company and My Future My Career programs.
The My Future My Career program is available to children ages 8 to 14 and offers micro grants of up to $500. The Summer Company program is funded with support from the Government of Ontario and is available to students ages 15 to 29 with successful applicants receiving up to $3,000 in micro grants to help fund their business expenses.
Some of the products and services at this year’s showcase may include: Homemade dog treats, a Mental health workbook journal, Beaded jewelry and buttons, Handyman and home assistance services, Dog walking, Drone and business technology services, Soy wax candles, Baked goods, Lawn and garden care maintenance, Household plants, Freezies and cold treats, Homemade baked goods, Stickers, keychains and buttons and Crochet and felted buddies.
This year, the My Future My Career micro grant was awarded to 13 kids’ businesses, including:

· Little Miss Pampered
· Links Campfire Wood
· JK’s Gardening
· Aislynn’s Horse Clipping and Farm Hand Services
· Honest Atomic
· Worry Zapper
· CC’s Freezies
· The Salt Bros
· Ava’s Hen Haven (AHH)
· The Grass Barber
· Bark Buddies
· Sarah’s Dog Treats
The Summer Company micro grant was awarded to eight youth businesses, including:
· Cotton Candy Lane
· Bubl Ear Plugs
· Wheel Wizards Auto Detailing
· SkyScans Drone
· MK Power Washing
· Shine & Seal Window Washing & Odd Jobs
· Fabled Earth Candles
· Reliable Digital Services
For those who are unable to attend the Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase on Wednesday, some young entrepreneurs from the BECN My Future My Career and Summer Company programs will also be showcasing their products at the Cobourg Farmer’s Market Youth Day on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
