A 17-year-old Grafton boy is facing several traffic offenses, following an alleged high-speed crash on Highway 401.
Northumberland OPP say shortly before 11:30 PM on Dec. 18, officers on patrol observed a vehicle traveling westbound in Hamilton Township at 174 kilometres per hour.
Police attempted, but failed to stop the vehicle.
A short time later, police responded to a vehicle crash on a highway off ramp.
Authorities claim the vehicle matched that of the speeding vehicle.
The driver and passenger were uninjured in the crash, which left the car on its roof.
The unidentified teenager is charged with Dangerous Operation, Stunt Driving and Flight from Police.
In a second incident, OPP recorded another vehicle on Highway 401 travelling eastbound near Port Hope at approximately 165 kilometres per hour on Dec. 21.
Once the vehicle was stopped, police allege they observed cannabis inside the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle and the occupants uncovered weapons, and drugs. Two men from North York and Toronto face charges.
Each vehicle was impounded for 14 days and the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days. The accused will appear in court at a later date.
