A weather advisory remains in effect for Northumberland County well into tonight.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has forecasted snowfall accumulations this afternoon and evening amounting to 10-15 centimeters.
This could reduce visibility in heavy snowfall areas. Travel conditions could also be hazardous due to icy and snow covered roads.
“Snow will become heavy at times this afternoon through tonight. The evening commute will likely be affected in the more populated areas. The snow will taper off to flurries late tonight with a risk of freezing drizzle,” stated the advisory.
“Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”
The snow is expected to end late tonight. Temperatures are expected to rise this evening before falling overnight.
