Examples of dangerous leadership are not hard to find in recent years.
On Feb. 16, the Northumberland Learning Connection invites you to a stand-alone session on this very issue, featuring world-renowned psychiatrist Dr. Bandy Lee.
Looking at the Dangerous Leadership phenomenon, one wonders whether honesty, integrity and empathy in political and business leaders has become a thing of the past. In some cases, society seems not even to recognize those who intimidate, deceive, coerce and unfairly punish others for their own ends – much less having any idea of how to counteract their influence.
Dr. Lee is a medial doctor and forensic psychiatrist who taught at Yale School of Medicine and Yale Law School for 17 years before her recent transfer to Columbia and Harvard. Her book The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess A President issued a stark warning about the former president's potential to foment violence and threaten democracy.
She subsequently founded the World Mental Health Coalition to address the problem of dangerous leadership and its contribution to a psychological pandemic. She has made it her mission to educate the public about the serious problems resulting from the elevation and empowerment of unstable leaders.
Tickets are now available for Dangerous Leadership, an on-line-only session at 7:30 p.m. that includes the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session.
Tickets at $20 each can be purchased on the Northumberland Learning Connection website. Purchasers will receive an e-mail with a link to the event 24 hours in advance. They will also receive access to the recording of this event.
