The Municipality of Port Hope has released its certified list of candidates for the 2022 municipal and school-board elections.
MAYOR – With the retirement of incumbent Bob Sanderson, candidates Angela Grogan, Olena Hankivsky and present councillors Laurie Carr and Jeff Lees are looking to fill the seat.
COUNCILLORS, WARD 1 – Looking to fill these four slots are incumbents Les Andrews and Wendy Meadows, along with hopefuls John Appleman, Todd Attridge, Miles Bowman, Terry Hickey, Claire Holloway Wadhwani, William Andrew Lambert, Miranda Lukaniuk, Norm Orviss and Adam James Pearson.
COUNCILLORS, WARD 2 – Incumbents John Bickle and Vicki Mink are looking to retain the two rural seats, facing competition from Peter Angelo, Chris Collins, Eric McMurray, Betsey Price and Darrell Toms.
TRUSTEE, ENGLISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL BOARD – Candidates are Terry Brown, Jaine Klassen Jeninga, Jamie Manton-Byers and Cherie Whalen.
TRUSTEE, ENGLISH SEPARSTE SCHOOL BOARD – Candidates are Douglas Blundell and Kathleen Tanguay
TRUSTEE, CONSEIL SCOLAIRE VIAMONDE – Candidates are Kristine Dandavino and Serge Paul.
TRUSTEE, CONSEIL SCOLAIRE CATHOLIQUE MONAVENIR – As the lone candidate, Marcelin Kwilu Mondo is acclaimed.

Voting will be open between Oct. 14 and 24 in Port Hope, and you can vote on-line or by telephone (see porthopevotes.ca for details).
The first step should be to confirm or add your voter information, which is done through the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation Preliminary List of Electors. Visit voterlookup.ca to ensure your information is accurate. If the information is incorrect, or if you need to be added to the list, contact elections@porthope.ca or visit the office of the Municipal Clerk and 2022 Election Returning Officer at Town Hall (56 Queen St.) during regular business hours (and bring proof of identification).
