Cobourg announces its slate of candidates

The Town of Cobourg has released the final list of candidates in the Oct. 24 municipal and school-board elections, as certified by the Municipal Clerk and 2022 Elections Returning Officer.

MAYOR – Incumbent John Henderson is challenged by Lucas Cleveland

DEPUTY MAYOR – Incumbent Suzanne Seguin is challenged by incumbent councillor Nicole Beatty

COUNCILLOR (five to be elected) – The list includes incumbents Aaron Burchat, Adam Bureau and Brian Darling, as well as former councillor Miriam Mutton and challengers Randy Barber, Ashley Bouman, Sara Gardinier, Mark Mills and Johnny Percolides.

ENGLISH PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE (two to be elected) – Terry Brown, Jaime Klassen-Jeninga, Jamie Manton-Byers and Cherie Whalen

ENGLISH SEPARATE SCHOOL BOARD (one to be elected) – Douglas Blundell and Kathleen Tanguay

FRENCH PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE (one to be elected) – Kristine Davidson and Serge Paul

FRENCH SEPARATE SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE – Marcellin Kwilu Mondo

The Town of Cobourg wants to be sure every eligible voter to be able to cast a ballot, and the first step is to confirm that you are on the voters list by visiting the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation's Preliminary List of Electors at voterlookup.ca. If you need to be added (or your contact info must be updated), visit the office of the Municipal Clerk and 2022 Election Returning Officer at Victoria Hall (55 King St. W.).

Your Voter Instruction Letter will arrive by mail, containing such important information as your Personal Identification Number and information on accessing the voting portal. It should arrive seven to 14 days prior to the first day of the voting period – please visit the office of the Municipal Clerk and 2022 Election Returning Officer if you do not receive one.

The voting period will be from Oct. 14 through 24. Voting Day is Oct. 24, and polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Your Voter Instruction Letter will have information for voting on-line, or you may choose to vote in person at two fully accessible Voter Help Centre Locations (please bring the PIN from your Voter Instruction Letter and a piece of photo ID).

One location is the courtroom in Victoria Hall:

Oct. 14-16 – 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Oct. 17-21 – 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Oct. 22-23 – 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Oct. 24 – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The other is the Cobourg Public Library (200 Ontario St.):

Oct. 17-21 – 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Oct. 24 – 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
