The Municipality of Port Hope has put out the call for anyone who is interested in filling several vacant positions on municipal advisory boards and committees..
“The volunteers on our boards and committees are in place to reflect the wants and needs of the community and to provide expertise, talent and guidance to council,” Mayor Bob Sanderson noted in the announcement.
“It can be very rewarding to participate in decisions that directly affect residents now and in the future. When our residents are involved in the decision-making process, our community truly benefits.”
Advisory boards, committees and working groups are comprised of volunteers who participate in meetings and provide advice to council. A volunteer must be a ratepayer or resident of Port Hope, at least 18 years of age, and not be an employee of the municipality.
Last month, Council adopted a new Committee By-law, which defines the mandate and meeting procedures for the boards and committees. The bylaw also refined terms of reference for each advisory board to align with objectives set out in the Strategic Plan.
Interested residents can visit the Boards and Committees page on the municipal website to review positions available and application criteria and procedures.
