The government will give up to $1 million to workers in the agri-food industry to keep the nation’s supply chains strong and store shelves stocked during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, the federal and provincial governments will help primary agriculture, food processing companies and grocery retail to recruit and train workers who are vital to keeping the essential food supply chain functioning.
The government has launched a targeted application intake through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership to quickly connect available workers with job opportunities in the agriculture and agri-food sector.
Projects that offer new and alternative solutions to labor and training gaps currently facing the sector are also included.
The government began accepting applications last Friday and will be accepted while funding is available.
