On May 17th to May 20th, 2018 five members of the Cobourg Police Service Honour Guard attended Cleveland, Ohio for the 33rd Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Service.
The Honour Guard attendance in Cleveland Ohio supports and honours all Law Enforcement Officers in an international capacity, for all Officers who have died in the line of duty.
At the beginning of the Memorial Service this year, the Cobourg Police Service was given the honour of representing Canadian police services by raising and lowering the Canadian flag to half-mast.
The Cobourg Police Service Honour Guard was created in 2013 and is currently a nine member Team.
The Team consists of Sworn Police Officers, Special Constables and Auxiliary Officers. All Officers involved in the Team are on volunteer basis and attend most events by volunteering their time.
The Honour Guard Team members are utilized for Police related events such as Parades, Ceremonies, National / International Police Memorials and sadly Funerals of fallen Police Officers.
