Northumberland Blue Dot has planned a day of activities and fun Oct. 20 – their way of enlisting your support for their National Day of Action for a healthy environment.
It's all designed to provide the opportunity to learn more about this movement as well as the urgency that has inspired it, local member Petra Hartwig said.
“Blue Dot is a movement in support of the right to a healthy environment - clean air and water, safe food and a stable climate,” Hartwig said.
“Communities like Cobourg are calling for action from all levels of government, with the next step to have our Federal government decision makers to follow suit and enshrine the right to a healthy environment in our Federal rule of law.
“Northumberland County is leading the way with environmental awareness,” she stated.
Awareness activities are planned in three venues for Oct. 20.
An Our Earth Now event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cobourg's Farmers Market, where local volunteers will have a information booth. It's an opportunity to learn more about the Blue Dot organization, as well as the rest of the day's events.
The Scavenger Hunt and Water Parade will be set up at the Cobourg Yacht Club from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Bring your own watercraft if you'd like to take part in the water parade, and you can enjoy activities and a performance by Hill & Landing on the shore.
From 7 to 10 p.m., it's Music and Movie time at The Loft (upstairs at 201 Division St.). Refreshments will be provided, while you enjoy music and an exclusive screening of Directly Affected Pipeline Under Pressure.
