Northumberland United Way is pleased to announce applications are now being accepted for the Day of Caring. The 22nd Annual Day of Caring will take place on Friday, June 7th in partnership with CpK Interior Products, Cameco Corporation, SABIC, Lakefront Utilities, Arclin Surfaces, Stalwood Homes, Town of Cobourg, Ontario Line Clearing/Wharram Tree Service, Home Hardware and the Lion’s Club of Cobourg. Over 150 volunteers from participating companies will work tirelessly from 8am to 2pm to complete a wide range of jobs in our community. Over the past 21 years, these volunteers have done it all!
We are currently seeking suitable Day of Caring projects from local not-for-profits, charitable and community organizations. We understand that often, small organizations cannot afford the time, money or personnel to do some of these jobs themselves. Also, agencies can refer individual clients to have jobs done, clients who may be in situations where due to health or monetary restrictions there is a definite need for assistance to help make one’s living situation more comfortable and safe. These are the kinds of projects for which Day of Caring is designed. Please keep in mind that the safety of all our volunteers is paramount and that jobs that have the potential to be dangerous will not be approved.
Jobs range from painting, cleaning, gardening and yard work to building sandboxes and enhancing play areas. Each year, the team reviews applications and jobs are assessed. From these assessments, materials are ordered and manpower determined to complete the job in a 5-6 hour work period.
Deadline for application is Wednesday, March 20, 2019 by 4:00 p.m.
