April 20 (4/20) is often used as a date associated with cannabis use. However, Thomas Fairfull, President and CEO of FV Pharma is in no mood to celebrate. The facility in the Kraft/General Foods plant he rents as a legal grow-op sits empty. No production can begin until he is inspected and licenced by Health Canada. Fairfull gave Northumberland 89.7 access to his plant. It includes heightened security measures, ultra-clean operational areas and a computerized system to assist in hydroponic cultivation. Once the federal licence is granted, Fairfull expects his 25,000 square foot operation will expand after a year to 250,000 square feet and his workforce will grow from 20 jobs to about 200. Fairfull is confident that his facility will be the key distributor of medical-grade marijuans with offices throughot Ontario but all growing and harvesting to be done in Cobourg.
