Youth charged with sexual assault
A 13 year old Port Hope youth is accused of sexual assault on a 9 year old girl. Port Hope Police became involved in an investigation on the 28th of February 2017. The youth was arrested later that day. The alleged assaults occurred earlier in February 2017 when the victim was visiting with the accused and family in Port Hope. The accused, which cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of Sexual Assault.
Port Hope Police are investigating vehicle entries that occurred over night the 28th February 2017 and March 1st 2017. A Centennial Drive resident reported a wallet was removed from an unlocked vehicle. The wallet contained credit cards and a small amount of cash. A Highland Drive resident reported her unlocked vehicle entered but nothing appears to have been taken. Port Hope Police remind residents to lock their vehicles when not in use. One of the most proactive ways to prevent crime is to reduce the opportunity for crimes to be committed.
Man arrested for breach of probation
A 45 year old former Port Hope man was arrested on Thursday morning after Port Hope Police received information he had breached a condition of his probation late Wednesday night. The man was placed on probation late February 2017 after being convicted of domestic violence offences. One of the conditions compelled the man to remain 500 metres away from any residence or place of employment or education attended by the victim and family members. Please alleged the man breached this condition. The man was arrested in Cobourg without incident.
